Intro:

I saw the card Crystalline Elder Sign and thought "That's a fun card! But just how high can I make all of my stats?" Well, if we are going to be buffing our stats, we obviously need to make this a Dark Horse deck. And Jim has deckbuilding options for what we need, plus a health array of stats, so let's see how this goes!

Important Cards:

Dark Horse

Key part of our deck that we want to get out ASAP. This also means we usually won't have any resources in our pool. Most of our cards cost 1 or less, but for the more expensive ones, we have an Emergency Cache and Uncage the Soul/Prophetic.

Crystalline Elder Sign

Plus one to all of our stats? Sweet! We can even get 2 of them out (if you're not playing on Hard or Expert) if we hit one with a Dr. Elli Horowitz for +2 to all of our stats, +3 if we have Dark Horse active, for a 7/6/6/5 stat line. That should be enough to simply waltz our way through the less difficult skill tests and enemies, while we can use our spells and events to help us with the harder stuff.

Dr. Elli Horowitz

Very mediocre until we get some XP, as we only have 3 relics in the deck, but adding in 2 Crystalline Elder Signs, a Cyclopean Hammer, and a Grotesque Statue means we are very likely to hit something very useful for us and save a slot while we're at it.

Prophetic

Makes our 2 cost one-shot spells free (once a turn), which makes them much easier to use with Dark Horse. Uncage the Soul is a worse version of this that is a one time use, plus you take an opportunity attack if you are engaged with an enemy, so we want to upgrade it right away.

Ethereal Form, Read the Signs, and Spectral Razor

Add our to a test, instead of replacing it. This lets us double dip our stat boosts from Elder Sign and Dark horse, letting us score some huge skill checks. The fact that they are one shots means no set up, but they are only a one time use. But if we have +2 or more to all of our stats, we don't need these cards for the easy enemies and clues anyways. Is it better than Shrivelling or Rite of Seeking? Probably not, but I think it's interesting and worth a try.

Cyclopean Hammer

5 Cost!? How are we ever going to afford that in a Dark Horse deck? We aren't. What we can do, is get it for free with Dr. Elli Horowitz, or if we do happen to draw it, it does have some great symbols to put towards a check. The alternative is upgrading our Enchanted Blades instead. More consistent, but a lower ceiling.

Alyssa Graham

Her ability to look at the top of either deck once a turn is amazingly useful, even if you don't discard it. And the +1 also bumps up our base to 4, which is equal to our , which is also partly why I opted to not take Sixth Sense. The only downside is she does cost 4, so if you are already in Dark Horse mode, you might need an Emergency Cache to get her out.

Misc Notes:

Key of Ys Also buffs our stats by a ton, but it costs a lot of XP, and this deck is not built to take full advantage of it. I want to try something different here.

Intrepid Dark Horse and Dr Elli are must haves, but the 5th Non-Mystic slot is subject to debate. I like Intrepid because it's a very fun effect, plus it fits into the theme of buffing all of our stats. Also works better with Dark Horse as it is free and has no setup. Hawk-Eye Folding Camera or Vicious Blow could be suitable alternatives.

Song of the Dead Generally a great card for Jim. But I opted for Enchanted Blade over Song because blade is a relic, which means Dr Elli can find and equip it. If you want to opt for more of a spell/combat focus that also works especially well with bag manipulation like Dark Prophecy, you can toss toss this in, maybe instead of Spectral Razor.

Upgrade order:

2 Prophetic (6XP) for Uncage the Soul

2 Crystalline Elder Sign (6XP) for Prophesy/Deny Existence

1 Charisma (3XP)

2 Enchanted Blade (6XP) or 1 Cyclopean Hammer (5XP) for Enchanted Blade

2 Grotesque Statue or 2 Counterspell (4XP) for Delve Too Deep

2 Blur (2XP)

P.S. I have not tested this deck out, and only have TFA/TCU/DL, so this is only theorycrafting for now. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Do note though that this deck is not meant to be the optimal way to build Jim, just a fun idea I had that hopefully still works.
