This deck requires a LOT of set up, but when you get to playing, you really get to play.
Father Mateo's is probably the best in game, and he have a lot of cards that can trigger it as well. He also started off with 5 xp (+3 xp with In the Thick of It).
Speak to the Dead and Call the Beyond are also slowly becoming my favorite card.
I recommend playing with an investigator that can run both Shrine of the Moirai and Survival Technique so you can regenerate Favor of the Moon and Favor of the Sun.
investigate using Eye of Chaos.
Recharge Eye of Chaos or Armageddon using Speak to the Dead.
Use Speak to the Dead to return Call the Beyond, you can also use Eldritch Inspiration to return two copies of it.
When using Eye of Chaos or Armageddon, you can activate Sign Magick up to two free cards by activating Speak to the Dead.
Replenish the whole bag with and using Rite of Equilibrium.
This deck also relies on drawing both and (see Eye of the Djinn, Paradoxical Covenant, Broken Diadem, and Seal of the Elders).
Set Nkosi Mabati's symbol to or , I use as to try to activate Blessing of Isis and there'll usually be more in the bag due to Call the Beyond.
Not only does you use Rite of Equilibrium to replenish both and , you can also use it to hear Seal of the Elders.
With all those set-up you can use Father Mateo's to get an additional actions each turn instead, bonus points if you get to activate Eye of the Djinn alongside it.
I've tried to make a deck similar to this using Patrice Hathaway instead, but I wasn't fully satisfied with in unlike for this deck.
Interesting Idea, as you say rather bulky in setup. Will try it nonetheless.
Correction about your description though: Speak to the Dead cannot recharge the spell assets / draw them from discard (they aren't discarded when empty anyway, and they are certainly not spell events). Instead, you can redraw Call the Beyond and use that to recharge the assets.
