Hey guys!! This is a William Yorick deck that tries to make maximum use out of Old Hunting Rifle, by trying to leverage its advantages while trying to mitigate its negative effects. In order to do that, we will need the Return to Dunwich Legacy expansion, which hasn't come out yet, but is expected rather soon (I guess).

But let's see the core upgrades before we talk about the deck:

To begin with, let's talk about Knife for a while. Knife is not too bad of a weapon in William Yorick, because he can recur it with his ability. Say you fighting a 3-hp enemy and your only weapon is Knife. Attack with Knife for 1 damage, then discard the Knife to get the extra damage, kill the enemy, replay Knife. And you can repeat the same process on the next enemy you encounter. So, for William Yorick it's a decent back-up weapon for when his primary weapons are missing, which is why we can leave Prepared for the Worst out of the deck after we get some upgrades. Knife's role of course isn't to serve simply as a back-up weapon. It's primary role is different and we 'll talk about that a little later.

Cornered is just too good for William Yorick, as he can actually use it to discard his assets and then play them with his special ability. With 12 other assets on the deck, Cornered should have plenty of good targets.

So, what this deck is generally aiming to do during the game is: Play Machete, then play Bandolier, then play Old Hunting Rifle (you can play Old Hunting Rifle first, then Machete if you have to). Kill things with Old Hunting Rifle and when you empty it (after killing something of course), play Knife from your discard and discard the Old Hunting Rifle. Then, after killing something using Machete or Knife, replay the Old Hunting Rifle from your discard and discard the Knife. And keep redoing the same process whenever Old Hunting Rifle empties. So, the Knife's main purpose in this deck, as you can tell, is to have a cheap asset you can put into play after killing something in order to put Old Hunting Rifle in your discard, so that you can recycle it. Machete basically serves as back-up when your Rifle jams, when it is in your discard, or simply when you 're out of ammo.

So, it basically costs 4 resources to refill your Old Hunting Rifle. Well, someone can say: Extra Ammunition refills the rifle as well for only 2 resources. While this is true, Extra Ammunition won't be able to rifill the rifle infinitely. The combo between the rifle the Knife is meant to be used in order to be able to refill ammo infinitely. So, as long you have the resources and the right cards, you can just shoot with the rifle for as long as you want. Now, this combo is of course not necessary, if you have the second Old Hunting Rifle, in which case it costs only 3 resources to refill it. Throw the second rifle in the discard, empty your first rifle, play your second and repeat. Simple as that.

Other cards that support the Rifle are Live and Learn and later, Oops! (2). What Live and Learn will do is that it will give you a second chance when your Rifle jams. Did it just jam? Play Live and Learn and attempt to hit the enemy again despite your Rifle is jammed (not sure it works that way though, but it seems like it does to me)! So, while Live and Learn is going to give you a second chance when you 're out of luck (supposedly it works that way), it will be replaced with the more effective Oops! (2). What this card will do, is that it will guarrantee a hit when the Rifle jams against 3-or-lower fight enemies and since with Oops! (2) you don't deal damage to another investigator when you fail, it allows you to freely attack enemies engaged with other investigators while you have it in your hand.

Cherished Keepsake is super-good with William Yorick of course and the same would go for Leather Coat, but unfortuantely we have to use the body slot for Bandolier, so it replaced with Second Wind, which also offers some cycle which is pretty useful in this deck, because you need to find a lot of stuff. And because we need card draw, we also have Take Heart which will also give us the extra resources to play all those cards we need. Resourceful is there to recycle Lucky!, Live and Learn, Take Heart and Oops! (2), all of which are great cards in the deck.

Imprtant Note: Don't upgrade Bandolier!! While the +1 is useful of course, the upgraded Bandolier totally destroys this deck's strategy because it adds a 4th weapon slot!! We need strictly 3 weapon slots! These slots are aimed to hold Machete and Old Hunting Rifle. If you add a 4th slot, you won't be able to discard the Rifle when you play Knife from your discard because you will have a free slot and that totally blows away what this deck is trying to do! It can be discarded, however, if you play a second rifle from your discard, but it is not very wise to count on drawing the second rifle. That's what the Knives are for in the first place!!

Notable combos with other investigators:

  • Sealing.

Obviously, you want the out of the bag, so you can tell your friend to bring a Chthonian Stone with him, and if he goes for Seal of the Seventh Sign in order to seal the , that's even better!!

This card is incredibly good for you!! It has the potential to reduce the cost of the Knife-Old Hunting Rifle combo by 2 or more! Consider this: Charles Ross, Esq. exhausts. You kill something with your rifle using your last bullet, then you play the Knife for free. Then Charles Ross, Esq. exhausts once, twice, maybe even more times before another item is played and you can play your rifle from your discard for 2 or less, maybe even for 0!! So, as you can see Charles Ross, Esq. makes for a very powerful combination with your deck!! I strongly recommend to encourage one of your teammates to include him in his or her deck!!

Nice decklist and strategy! William Yorick was already resilient but with Old Hunting Rifle he finally gets a weapon worth building around.
