An idea for an end-of-run Amanda Sharpe as a damage queen. The student who could do 20+ points of damage in one round (see below...)

(NOTE: 0-level deck example is listed here, with a summary at the bottom of this post as well)

Deck Positives: Cheap, Fast, (Very) High Damage

Deck Negatives: Amanda becomes disinterested in investigating, for the most part

The deck is built around The Necronomicon(5), with Ancient Stone(Knowledge of the Elders), Strange Solution(Acidic Ichor) and Segment of Onyx all providing additional damage and mobility. Idea is to feed secrets to the Necronomicon (and maybe the Pendant of the Queen, but it's easily found and re-assembled here after using it 3 times), and deal big damage with the Solution or in a series of passive or fast actions.

At the end of the day this is a combat deck, and Amanda's investigation skills have atrophied. So using Enraptured in particular might be harder unless you commit other skill cards. But with luck you'll be cycling the heck through this mostly very-cheap deck so commit as many cards as you like. You could go with Versatile on this for a few more cards, but I like a lean fast deck.

Tried this in a one-shot in Dunwich and it's pretty hilarious.

MAXED OUT

Assets

The Necronomicon(5)

  • actionless damage, or boosts to your skills.

Ancient Stone(Knowledge of the Elders) (4)

  • you get minimum 2 draws a round, so using it mainly to pick off smaller creatures or add that little bit extra when needed. Overpower and Eureka can also help you here if needed. Only put one in play at a time so you can recycle it with the other one and load it up again (you could also swap out the Necronomicon from time to time if needed).

Whitton Greene (2)

  • your main engine for finding the book, Stone, and Segments, and gives you a nice boost/soak. Once everything's revealed you'll cycle things a little more slowly, so try to get her out early.

Segment of Onyx/Pendant of the Queen

  • In this setup it's potentially easy to use the 3 secrets on the pendant and throw it back in to reassemble, but see below for supply streams

Strange Solution(Acidic Ichor)

  • 'nuff said

Reloaders and Events

Astounding Revelation

  • if you can get the book up early, just use this for adding secrets to it. Aside from Greene everything else in the deck is pretty cheap.

Emergency Cache(3)

  • for loading up the Solutions

Knowledge is Power

  • auto-fast extra uses for the Necronomicon

Truth from Fiction(2)

  • again for the book if you're swapping out the Stones with each other, but could use it on either of those and/or the Pendant.

Enraptured skill

  • put under Amanda and get to a manageable shroud, and load up the book again.

Other Skills

Practice Makes Perfect event

  • look for the practiced skill you want to use twice, and hopefully nab an Astounding Revelation on the way.

Eureka!

  • perfect for putting under Amanda after Whitton's harder to use.

Overpower(2) and Vicious Blow(2)

  • for damage and draw on most anything especially with Strange Solution.

Aside, a Super-combo: You start your turn with the big bad on your space. Draw a card, 1 secret off the Stone = 1 damage. Put Overpower (2) under Amanda. Fight at base 9 for 3 actions using 3 charges off the Solution = another 9, so 10 damage. You succeeded by 2 or more each time, so 6 secrets off the Stone for another 6, so 16 Damage. The first two actions you used Vicious Blow (2), adding +4 overall to damage. That's 20 Damage in one round. This is not including any secrets you use from the Necronomicon for a 4 secret:3 damage additional ratio. Aces!

Stunning Blow or Skeptic (depending on what you use for a chaos bag).

  • searchable, for the time you might want to just evade something instead, or Skeptic to help your general chances with a bless/curse oriented bag.

STARTING DECK IDEAS

  • Investigation abilities hiked up and a bit more defence until you upgrade to the Stones (1) then (4), and the Necronomicon in play. Still a bit risky against enemies but what the helll.

Hand slots

Ally -2x Whitton Greene(0)

Accessory

Events

Skills -1x Deduction -2x Enraptured -2x Eureka! -1x Inquiring Mind -2x Overpower -2x Perception -1x Stunning Blow -2x Vicious Blow

If you're not gonna keep Stunning Blow in the upgraded version, I'd add another Inquiring Mind, Deduction or Unexpected Courage.

and that's 30.

yeah in retrospect I'd do 1x Skeptic instead of 1x Stunning Blow. A much better choice.

(depending on your chaos bag makeup)

this is hilarious :P definitely will have to try a strange solution + fight practiced deck in the future.

Add 2 Eidetic Memory which you'll use to copy Knowledge is Power and you can add 15 testless actionless damage from the Necronomicon.
