SUMMARY

This deck uses The Hierophant • V & Dragon Pole to give extra arcane slots & ways to fill them. This gives Akachi a really good & reliable fight. The mix of accessories & spells gives her great investigation power making her a good all-rounder!

XP

You definitely don't need this much XP to play the deck before it's "online". In fact, you really only need 6xp (8xp with Down the Rabbit Hole for 2x The Hierophant • V to start feeling good.

I have it at 51 XP because that is what I went into the last scenario of the Circle Undone campaign with.

Down the Rabbit Hole & Delve Too Deep net a realistic 15+ extra XP over the course of a campaign. In hindsight, I should have added a single Arcane Research to help upgrade my spells.

If you want more, In the Thick of It can give you +3XP, but I didn't find the 2 trauma to be worth it. If you go that route, you might consider keeping Hallowed Mirror or picking up Fearless.

MULLIGAN

Hard mulligan for:

1 The Hierophant • V or Anna Kaslow.

2 Dragon Pole or Backpack

3 Clairvoyance or Sixth Sense.

This is the core of the deck.

EARLY GAME

You want to fill your arcane slots for Dragon Pole. You have normally 1-2 turns of setup before you really get going. You'll likely be able to fill 2 arcane slots (for the +1 damage) in the first two turns, and get the full +5 mid-game.

MID-GAME

You can both fight and investigate well. You're a good all-rounder so fill in the gaps. Ideally, use Alchemical Transmutation and Mists of R'lyeh to pay for Angered Spirits.

LATE GAME

You'll get the most benefit out of Meditative Trance and Delve Too Deep towards the end of the scenario.

NOTES

There is an official print-n-play upgraded Dragon Pole (3) on fantasy flight's website which is REALLY GOOD! This give you 2 extra arcane slots (instead of 1) and a method to fill your arcane slots faster with 'Auras'.

STARTER DECK

The "side deck" contains cards for the starter deck, mainly replacing the tarot cards. The Red Clock starts as a Decorated Skull, and Empty Vessel starts as a Hallowed Mirror. Everything else has a level 0 version.

Is down the rabbit hole really worth it? It seems to me that the backbone of the deck and, as such, it's core upgrades are entirely new cards. The Tarot cards, the red clock. You want to get those early and down the rabbit hole makes them more expensive. By the time you start upgrading for cheap I'm not sure it will be worth it.
