Hardcore clue collector. Barely any fighting.

  • Ally cycle with A Chance Encounter and Calling in Favors to abuse "enters play" Allies. Will collect several clues completely ignoring shroud.
  • With Bonnie, good Exhaust ability can be used again in a round.
  • Explosive card draw.
  • Good chance of getting the right allies, most of whom has +1 intellect.
  • Rise to the Occasion will always be viable on 3+ difficulty no matter how much stat Allies give.
  • A bulk of the allies will be expendable, so will work for soak.
  • Great late game. Could reach to a point where he's doing 7 intellect actions.

Weaknesses:

  • Needs protection from monsters, and losing one or two Allies can be very problematic.
  • This many allies get expensive. Could use economy support from other players.
  • Explosive card draw means quicker to draw weaknesses. Need care not to trigger Burden of Leadership at the wrong time.
  • Heavily focused on Intellect, and somewhat on Willpower. Could be easily screwed over by encounter cards.

Why Both Resourceful and Scrounge for Supplies:

  • Resourceful can target A Chance Encounter. If it has to, it can also target Scrounge for Supplies.

  • Scrouge for Supplies can target A Chance Encounter, Resourceful, Calling in Favors, Motivational Speech.

Opening Hand strategy:

  • Always throw away Leo De Luca. He's meant to be played with Calling in Favors.
  • A Chance Encounter and Scrouge for Supplies is for mid-late game, so throw them.
  • Take Bonnie any day.
  • Take Dr. Milan Christopher any day.
  • Having Motivational Speech is good.
  • Stray Cat is good to have a safe way to evade in case
  • Having Take Heart is good since it basically makes one of your action into "Draw 2 cards and get 2 resources".
  • Having Calling in Favors with Art Student or Laboratory Assistant is pretty good. Remember that Callin in Favor puts the controlled Ally back into your hand.

Burden of Leadership has to do 1 direct damage and 1 direct horror on every exhausted ally. Try not to put damage on non-expendable allies, or at least be careful about drawing cards.

Upgrade Path:

  • Both Charisma (3)
  • Alyssa Graham -> Field Agent (2) (because Field Agent works well with Alice Luxley)
  • Alice Luxley or one Art Student -> either 2nd Field Agent (2), Ikiaq (3) or Lola Santiago (3).
  • Leo De Luca -> Leo De Luca (1), or Agency Backup (5), or GenĂ© Beauregard (5)
  • (huge maybe) Dr. Milan Christopher -> David Renfield (3), for resource generator.

A list of other possible allies to consider:

  • Ikiaq (3) := Absorbs weaknesses.
  • Cat Burgler (1) := exhaust to auto evade
  • Delilah O'Rourke (3) := exhaust to do 2 damage to exhausted enemy.
  • Beat Cop (3) := exhaust to do 1 damage
  • Dr. William T. Maleson (2) := exhaust allow any investigator to see 2 encounters before choosing
  • Girish Kadakia (4) := damage and horror soak, exhaust to give +2 to skill check AND heals himself
  • GenĂ© Beauregard (5 by taboo) := exhaust to move clues (or enemies) into or away herself
  • Michael Leigh (5) := exhaust to do extra damage in a fight
  • The Red Gloved Man (5) := fast-play, only one turn. All your base stat will have 6. (Does mean Rise to the Occasion will not work)
  • The Black Cat (5) := Makes Cephlopod and Tablet much less scary, and has 2 wild.

For non-ally upgrade.

I guess you could replace Trusted with Call for Back Up. But what would be nice is anything that heals Horror.

This looks dope. Even the level 0 deck looks solid, something hard to say with Charlie Kane.

Since you only run 4 cards maybe you can change this cards to cards because this pool can help you do "free stuff" better, provide Mythos protection and get you more cash to pay all your expensive allies. Cards like Hit and Run let to abuse harder of your Laboratoy Assistants and Art Students, to put in play Summoned Hound without adding Unbound Beast to your deck for a free Fight / Investigate action and, of course, abuse of The Red-Gloved Man again and again. For economy, instead of Motivational Speech you can run Faustian Bargain for more flexible economy, helping you play bigger allies like Agency Backup. For mythos protection, the real weakness of Charlie, this would allow you to play "You handle this one!" and even run Tennessee Sour Mash or the level 3 version.

Also, choosing will allow you to buy Charon's Obol, so you can have all the needed experience during the campaign to purchase all your busted budies, but you'll want a protector like Daniela Reyes, Diana Stanley, Carolyn Fern, Vincent Lee Lily Chen or Zoey Samaras to be able to setup while not dying during Mythos phase.

@rodro Wow, I did not consider Hit and Run. That alone is honestly enough to convince me to pivot this to a Rogue/Survivor Kane. The Summoned Hound thing is pretty funny.

The thing was, I made this deck kind of as a joke "Hey let's see if I can make a Guardian Kane that's as viable to collecting clues as a Seeker Kane". Also to note, what's nice about Motivational Speech is that saves you an action, and I believe parley doesn't trigger attacks so it can really save your butt in certain situation. I think I considered Faustian Bargain at some point, but my friend was playing curse Amanda, and we have a group rule that our cards can't overlap except for Emergency Cache, and well, Dr. Milan.

I played the deck as is on Scarlet Keys campaign, and gotta say it performed far more than I expected. I basically nullified all the high shroud, bad-stuff-happens-if-you-fail areas whil Amanda sucked up clues in medium or less shroud areas. And gotta say, Girish Kadakia was the GOAT. I saved my Nathiel Cho buddy more than a few times, and the card worked well with Inspiring Presence.
