Planning to try Luke someday for Innsmouth, here's a first stab at a generalist build and the planned upgrade path.

The main feature is to use Luke's access to Research Librarian and Whitton Greene to reliably find True Magick. Either one can trigger the free resources from Astounding Revelation.

True Magick lets Luke cast the Shrivelling or Scrying without spending resources, play actions, or charges. That seems pretty powerful to me. Usually Luke can only do this once per turn unless Raven Quill siphoned off charges from Brand of Cthugha.

Whitton Greene makes an ideal ally for Luke, boosting and also right off the bat on account of the fact that his Gate Box starts in play.

Note Raven Quill as a commit that can be searched by Whitton Greene because of the Relic trait. <- Correction: Whitton can only search for assets, so a revised version of this deck might skip the Quill and go for Pendant of the Queen instead?

Brand of Cthugha is put in play like normal to finish off anything that didn't die from Shrivelling and/or be a battery for Raven Quill.

No need to ever upgrade Scrying, since you don't care about extra charges or making the into . <- Correction: this upgrade can save you an action, but still burns the lone charge on True Magick

Pocket Telescope has tons of utility (read the card review), and Luke can use it to investigate anywhere from his Dream-Gate

Hemispheric Map is a luxury upgrade. If Luke retreats to his Dream-Gate it could make searches with the Telescope pretty easy. If it turns out that passing tests isn't a problem then perhaps Pathfinder or Deduction would make sense.

For campaign starter pull out all the XP cards and swap in the side deck. Priorities for XP are True Magick, 2x Brand of Cthugha, and 1x Shrivelling. Arcane Research will help with the combat spells 6 times over the campaign, so getting some of these high-XP cards is pretty attainable. And Raven Quill upgrades itself whenever you end a scenario with it in play.

memo to self: given likelihood of having assets out with 4 different factions there's a chance to include Call for Backup for testless goodies

Correction: Scrying (3) would be a great improvement; the means it doesn’t use an action when played via True Magick

Cool deck! I like the idea of moving charges from Brand of Cthugha to True Magick. Sadly, Whitton Greene can‘t search for The Raven Quill, because it isn‘t an asset.

Good catch!

Slightly lowers the synergies. Might pick something else like Eye of Chaos instead; it would let Luke use the charge for extra clues as another tool in his kit.

Looking over the combat spell assets, it might make sense to start with Armageddon (which can't self-inflict horror or damage), and since it will almost never be installed the higher cost is irrelevant.

Perhaps the most interesting upgrade is Enchanted Bow. Since it stays in hand we'd ignore the onerous slot requirements.

It has the option to attack an enemy at a connecting location, which can be anywhere when used in conjunction with the Dream-Gate.

I think that any use of the Enchanted Bow would exhaust True Magick, but I'm not sure...
