Introduction

The combat side of an Amanda Sharpe pairing for RttFA. The idea is to get Chainsaw as quickly as possible and cut down everything while Amanda gets the clues. Get the saw as quickly as possible, keep rotating it with Yorick's ability, pick up a few extra clues when possible. Worries are relatively slow card draw, possible resource crunches, and City of Archives. Comments and advice welcome.

Key Cards

Assets

  • Chainsaw -- 9 more or less guaranteed damage. Upgrade out of Meat Cleaver ASAP.
  • Tetsuo Mori -- Some soak, plus an extra shot at the saw, preferably from the discard pile. He could also grab Cherished Keepsake or Track Shoes, if the saws are in hand. It's possible Yorick's ability will render him kind of unnecessary by mid-scenario, but a 2/2 soak is always good.
  • Cherished Keepsake -- have you seen Yorick's Sanity?
  • Track Shoes -- mostly because it's TFA, where you sometimes want to cover distance, maybe skipping a Vengeance enemy.
  • Well Prepared -- With the saw down, this is +3 to 1-2 tests/round.

Events

Skills

  • Resourceful -- It will grab a saw, a keepsake, Live and Learn, or Oops!

Mulligan

Obviously, for the Chainsaw. Tetsuo Mori and Prepared for the Worst are there as "extra copies" in case you crap out. A Cherished Keepsake would be nice.

Upgrades

Roughly in Order:

  • 2 Meat Cleaver --> 2 Chainsaw -- This is meant to be the heart of the damage potential of the deck. Everything else is meant to make the chainsaw work, refill it, and generally add to the mayhem potential.
  • 2 Steadfast --> 2 Well Prepared -- The chainsaw has . That's 2 Steadfast on tap every turn the Chainsaw is out.
  • 2 Act of Desperation --> 2 Emergency Cache (3) -- Refills the saw in only 1 action.
  • 2 Oops! --> 2 Oops! (2) -- Makes the main attack more focused, as you can retarget your main enemy.
  • 2 Guard Dog --> 2 Aquinnah (3) -- Aquinnah's defense potential beats out the dog's damage.

At this point, we are running out of XP and things to obviously upgrade. The fallback .18 Derringer could be upgraded, as could Vicious Blow. Maybe Scene of the Crime into Evidence! (1) or Sharp Vision?

I think Relentless has a place in basically every Yorick chainsaw deck. You have a high chance of doing too much damage and this helps mop it up for future murder AND it has a fist icon so you can commit/recur instead of having to play it. I think Yorick might be the only character that can make it work.

I also think Prepared for the worst => Backpack 2 should be on your list of upgrades. In general, I'd suggest more items, like leather coat/fine clothes as well (maybe one of each), that way you can cycle backpack and coat, which solves your card draw problem as you can dump all your assets in the bin and just draw events and skills. If you do this you can drop down to 1 track shoes.

I'd consider taking Grete Wagner instead of Guard dog, which would let you drop one of winging it and scene of the crime (maybe both and use either the new crow or gravedigger's shovel instead).

Idunno about Relentless; I watched it whiff endlessly during a recent game with Nathaniel, and Nathaniel has that variable +1 damage tool. Too many 3 health enemies. Backpack instead of Prepared for the Worst is interesting, and I have to give that some thought. I cut the Leather Coats because Yorick has pretty good Health, and I want Damage going on Officer Mori. This is a weirdly low-item Torick build, and I may regret that at some point, although recurring Cherished Keepsake and (initially) Mori, then the other Ally should keep Yorick's ability busy.

I keep going back and forth on Grete. She's pricey, and I can't get the upgrade. But, maybe....

Whilst TFA is known for its 3 health enemies, there are still plenty of 2 healthers. This just let's you be fine with being inefficient. The difference between Nathaniel and Yorick is that Nathaniel needs to take an action to play it.

Even if you choose to go without leather coat, fine clothes are pretty useful and can achieve backpack cycling (at a slightly higher cost). There are important parley tests in untamed wilds/threads of fate/city of Archives and arguably shattered aeons. I still think that leather coat is worth it though because certain missions in TFA can be really rough with the amount of damage they deal. I've tried to recur Tetsuo over and over but he costs 3 resources and that hurts. You need a lot more money to make that work and I spy none apart from act of desperation and that should be used for Chainsaw. My build that was recycling Tetsuo was running drawing thin, and still struggled.

Yeah, I get that. Hmm, even if I don't do Relentless, if I go with Grete, I could drop either Winging it or Scene of the Crime in favor of Stand Together or Clean Them Out, both of which are small boosts, and there are enough low-fight enemies that I can pull that off in Standard.
