William Yorick has always been able to stand up for himself playing true solo, but can he assume combat responsibilities in a multi-player game? Here’s a simple 26XP build that’s easy to pilot and fun to play.

YOU WOULD NEVER BREAK THE CHAINSAW: ENEMY MANAGEMENT

As befits a fight-oriented build, more than half of the XP in expended on some of the heavy-hitting weapons that William has access to such as Chainsaw and Old Hunting Rifle. These are both hard mulligan targets.

Begin your campaign with Baseball Bat and Enchanted Blade and upgrade them when you can. Hang on to Meat Cleaver though, for whilst both of the upgraded weapons take double hand slots, the trusty chopper’s additional damage-dealing horror detriment can be absorbed by Peter Sylvestre's reaction when other weapons are exhausted or unavailable.

Clutch Act of Desperation for when your Chainsaw runs out of uses, or the Old Hunting Rifle either is out of ammunition, or jams when you’re in a tight spot. The big damage burst it provides will not only help you see off an engaged enemy, but also generates a resource boost to allow you to re-purchase a second copy, or one you may have managed to re-acquire using Resourceful or William’s effect.

"Not without a fight!" can be a boon when dealing with multiple enemies, and should be recycled using Scrounge for Supplies or Resourceful. Aim to play this card at least four times during each scenario in order to help overcome really difficult opponents.

AND IF YOU DON’T LOG ME NOW, YOU WILL NEVER LOG ME AGAIN: ALLIES

Peter Sylvestre and Jessica Hyde are a well-known and extremely powerful pair of allies for those investigators who have access to them, and who are prepared to invest in Charisma. Their ability to soak and recover from damage and horror is a significant benefit, not to mention the +1 boosts to William’s , , and (when Peter Syvestre is upgraded), .

RUNNING IN THE SHADOWS, DAMN YOUR LOG, DAMN YOUR : CLUE ACQUISITION

When he’s not swinging his chainsaw around, William can make some useful contributions through "Look what I found!" (also an upgrade target to "Look what I found! (2)" if you’ve XP to spare)

3XP may seem a lot in order to bring a second Charisma into play, but when the team finds itself in the familiar position of needing just one more clue to advance the act it is helpful to be able to deploy Mysterious Raven, immediately discard during a and grab it, dealing the horror thereby acquired to Peter Sylvestre. Use whatever recursion you can to repeat this as often as is practical.

TAKING IT UP A NOTCH: UPGRADE PATH

8XP -- Charisma X2, Jessica Hyde X2. Switch Jessica out for a useful general purpose campaign starter deck card such as Unexpected Courage.

6XP -- Switch out Enchanted Blade for Old Hunting Rifle

8XP -- Drop the Baseball Bat, fuel up the Chainsaw

4XP -- Upgrade to Peter Sylvestre (2)

Everything else is gravy, but upgrading Vicious Blow is never a bad idea. As mentioned above, "Look what I found! (2)" is also worthy of consideration. Want another bump? Take a look at Bandolier (2)
