Daniela shows why she's a good hunter!

Introduction

I was going into a new run of Scarlet Keys and I needed a Guardian that can reliably deal 3 damage while not worrying about the chaos that is the Chaos Bag in this campaign. There's a lot more tokens added throughout the campaign, at least for me, and the became a lower probability. Fear not, if using on another campaign, there's cards for that!

I completed and won the Scarlet Keys campaign. Most importantly, I was able to destroy Tzu San Niang with two Toe to Toes and a Guard Dog. 8 damage, no dealing with the Shade Reaper.

This deck doesn't work solo, you need Cluever/Flex to go with.

Also, thanks to Valentin1331 for the template!

Main Strategy:

One, Two, Three , ah ah ah:

Number Three is the name of the game

  • Old Hunting Rifle comes with 3 ammo for 3xp/3cost and gives +3 for 3 damage! Although, it has a caveat. If you pull a or an , the gun jams and you fail the test. The build plays with that probability, but you have cards to take care of that.

  • Brute Force is one of the best Skill cards for Daniela. It gives +3 when using it with a basic Fight action which I would recommend doing and deals 3 damage reliably.

  • Toe to Toe deals 2 damage but since you are attacked with this card for the auto success, you deal a damage with your ability, making this card deal 3 testless damage! If you have Guard Dog out, you can deal 4 testless damage with one damage from the enemy attack going to Guard Dog.

  • Timeworn Brand is here if you have an extra 5 XP towards the end for the big baddie if you don't find your Old Hunting Rifle yet.

  • Vicious Blow in here to deal +1 damage in any situation.

"No, I don't think I will" :

That pesky Chaos Bag is there to make sure you fail, but with some cards we can try to prevent that.

  • Heavy Furs is great with Old Hunting Rifle. You pulled a ? Deal 1 damage to Heavy Furs and pull again!

  • Third Time's a Charm is used on an important test that you really need to pass, especially with Old Hunting Rifle. You get three opportunities to pull from the chaos bag.

  • Will to Survive basically makes Old Hunting Rifle a 9 damage blast with no worries. If the enemy hits you after your turn, deal it 1 more damage for 10 damage!

Other Cards :
  • Bangle of Jinxes is a good card for Daniela. It starts with 1 charge and going from there, anytime you are attacked, it'll generate another charge to go along with your ability.

  • Guard Dog helps deal damage back after getting attacked. You can deal 2 testless damage back to the enemy with Guard Dog out.

  • Use Resourceful to get cards back you really need. There are plenty of Survivor options.

  • Flesh Ward and Something Worth Fighting For are your Horror soak. Flesh Ward also works well with Daniela's ability allowing to cancel a horror and dealing a damage back.

  • Clean Them Out and Emergency Cache for your economy. With 5 , Clean Them Out is an easy 2 resources.

Looks like a great list!

Good job! It looks like a great deck to take on a Standalone with the Machete instead of the Timeworn Brand.

How was the resource-curve? Because it looks rather expensive on a first glance.

Nice stuff! Have you considered base Custom Modifications? The base version allows you to re-roll your chaos bag draw (it's a "when" not "after" trigger, so it happens before you change the game state and resolve Old Hunting Rifle). Venturer and One in the Chamber can keep it more stocked with ammo too, if you felt so inclined. I had though about base Custom Modifications on a Yorick deck myself, as it also happens to be a target of Scrounge for Supplies (I think).

@Veronica212, Thank you!

@Valentin1331, Thanks!

Honestly, Timeworn Brand was put in at the end due to having 5 experience and I didn't need it on the final campaign. You can put anything in there for the final scenario or like you said, take this in standalone with Machete.

@HungryColquhoun, I had Custom Modifications in the original deck, but I found it more useful on paying for Machete when I tested it due to having cards already to account for the .

@Valentin1331, also for the resource-curve. I was able to do damage with Brute Force and Toe to Toe if I didn't have Old Hunting Rifle out yet, but Clean Them Out and Emergency Cache was enough if needed.

How do you tutor the rifle?

Jul 08, 2023 JesterJayJoker · 70

@IntoxIcatIon, I have Prepared for the Worst in there. I usually had it out in most scenarios. If you pull it once, you have Resourceful to get that card back.
