This is a submission to the Mythos Busters competition to build a deck that uses a card that is under-rated or under played. For anyone who doesnt know what this is, You can find the competition episode here:
Massive thanks to the Fantastic Mythos Busters Podcast for all they do. I have been listening to your cast for years and the community you've built on the discord is just fantastic. For anyone who doesnt know about the Mythos Busters, you can find them at these links:

- And i cant figure out how to link to the discord, but if someone tells me how to do it i`ll happily edit it in.

Anyway! On with the deck!
Back in the Core set there was a card called:
Drawn to the Flame
I consider this to be underplayed since, well.... is it possible to have enough of Drawn to the Flame. It is just such an insightful source of information in the Arkham LCG sphere. If i had the time, I would play Drawn to the Flame. All day, every day. Wouldnt you?
Its under-rated since, well, can you rate it high enough? I think that if anything Drawn to the Flame gets less attention than it deserves. Certainly despite being considerably better than its competition, people do still play the alternatives from time to time.
And the card? Well - its also pretty decent. I mean thats 2 automatic clues for one action and shouting the words "I love Drawn to the Flame" at the top of your voice as you do so is only mandatory if you are in the same room as a mythos busters cast member.
That said, if you could repeatedly use Drawn to the Flame over and over you could probably get away without needing to use regular investigation methods and you would likely be bringing in the clues at a decent rate. Of course with Sefinas high and you are probably dealing able to deal with encounter checks fairly well, evade off enemies as needed, or Backstab them with ease.
-
GREAT - HOW MANY TIMES CAN WE PLAY IT?
Drawn to the Flame can be played via the following methods:
- 2x Natural plays
- 3x The Painted World (if you can get a copy of Dttf under your ID)
- 2x Quantum Flux if its in the discard after being played
- 2x De Vermis Mysteriis if its in discard the after being played again...
= 9 plays in total. Each of these can be Double, Doubled!:
THAT'S UPTO 18 PLAYS!
-
ACTION REPLAY!
2x Time Warp lets you see that beautiful Drawn to the Flame moment over and over again! with Double, Double that can be twice! And with De Vermis Mysteriis you can replay Time Warp maybe getting you up to 8 replays! Oh the joys!
THAT'S UPTO 26 PLAYS!
-
HEY, SOMEONE ELSE HAS A COPY!
But they`ll miss out on our wonderful Double, Double bonus! Oh no!
- Its ok we have 2x "You owe me one!" - thats 4 more plays!
WERE UPTO 30 PLAYS! WOO!
-
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- HOW DO WE FIND ALL THESE TOOLS TO PLAY DTTF ALL DAY? - LOTS OF DRAW:
- Lucky Cigarette Case
- Arcane Initiate (there are 13 spells in the deck)
- Sacrifice - also clears doom from Arcane Initiate/De Vermis Mysteriis.
- HOW DO WE DEAL WITH ALL THESE ENCOUNTER CARDS?
- Deny Existence
- Ward of Protection
- "You handle this one!"
- We can also use Time Warp to change the encounter card draw while getting that wonderful replay feeling
- WHAT IF WE DRAW AN ENEMY?
- Backstab
- Storm of Spirits
- "You handle this one!"
- loads buffs let us evade: Cat Burglar / Trench Coat.
- Or, we can just step away with Cat Burglar.
- YOU SAID TIME WARP ADDS PLAYS - BUT YOU WONT GET ANY MORE CLUES... WHY BOTHER...
- If you think this is about clues you may have missed the point. #stokethebloodfeud.
- AND HOW ARE THESE QUESTIONS "FREQUENTLY ASKED"? YOU WROTE THEM BEFORE YOU PUBLISHED THE DECK!
- Er ... im sorry we seem to have run out of time. Interview is over... I need to be on my way.
-
Only kidding guys - genuine thanks for the show and I love everything you’ve been doing for the community! You’re Awesome! Hope this gave you a laugh!

Jul 28, 20192 natural play 3 |
Jul 28, 2019If I had to choose one, I would choose this one. Because I can't get enough Drawn to the Flame. Also. Sefina. I also enjoy the inclusion of "You Owe Me One" for a variety of reasons. One of which begs the question, just how many encounter cards does Sef have to pull before you owe her one? |
Jul 28, 20192* natural play 3* painted world 4* quantum flux (of course you play quantum only while having both dttf in the discard pile) 2* De Vermis Misteriis -> using Double Double, thats a Total of 22 times Counting You owe me one 2* natural play 4* quantum flux -> Double Double total: 12 (your allies surely will be happy to keep their hands full of Drawn to the flame copies as you're so gratiously helping them drawing cards) You can't replay Drawn to the flame twice with a Time Warp using Double Double so I'm not counting those. You certainly can use Dayana Esperance though. 2* natural play 4* quantum flux 4* added for Dayana 8* added for Dayana using quantum flux -> Total of 18 So I do think you can play it 52 times without having to take a single point of Horror due to reshuffling your deck for a total of 34 encounter cards resolving or 68 clues gathered. (the first comment is due to mobile being a pain, I don't know how to delete that one) |
Jul 28, 2019I bow to your maths Though sadly Dayana Esperence is 3 xp and slightly out of reach for Sefina Rousseau.... unless we can grab her with a cheeky "You owe me one!" of course! Also - Cheers |
Jul 28, 2019I see that Double, Double is Exceptional but not Unique. This means we can grab anothet investigator's Double, Double with You Owe Me One and then proceed to Triple, Triple all our Drawn to the Flames. |
Jul 28, 2019If Triple, Triple isn't enough for you, we can employ Sign Magick to open up You Owe Me One an a third Double, Double, enabling Double, Double Double, Doubled Drawn to the Flames. |

Jul 29, 2019Hey. We also have a handslot free for Sign Magick for spot of Quadruple, quadruple. Or in fact a fourth copy would be better than De Vermis Mysteriis. The main problem being I don’t know what comes after quadruple... fivetupple? |
Jul 29, 2019Hahaha. This is a high level of satire - well done!! |
Jul 30, 2019I think its quintuple, sextuple, septuple then octuple |
Aug 02, 2019Drawn to the Flame? Pretty niche card if you ask me, I can't even remember what it does. |

Aug 03, 2019Not sure how the following influences the total, but should add more plays:
|
Aug 03, 2019Or go nearly unlimited by building the deck with only assets except 2x Drawn to the Flame and Ace in the Hole. Keep going so long you can take the horror from shuffling your 3 card discard and mythos cards. |
Aug 24, 2019Perfect! I’ve started taking this through the Carcosa campaign with Roland! |
Aug 26, 2019hehe - I cant tell if your kidding I have no idea how it would perform as a deck. |
Aug 26, 2019They have a comedy "blood feud" with their friends on the Drawn the The Flame Podcast. Its a bit of an old joke now, but the competition was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Of course if you are sat at a table with one of the MB team, Thats a different issue. The deck may then be ideal, and I do encourage you to say "I love drawn to the flame" every time you play it. |
Sep 04, 2019I’m not kidding! And it’s not terible! Do you know how good Drawn to the Flame is in Boundary Beyond? I know 5 out of 6 paths! |
