Heavy Combat build for epic multiplayer mode or any other standalone scenario.

The basic concept is to play that awesome Flamethrower as soon as possible, stock its ammo up with Extra Ammunition or Custom Ammunition and afterwards double it with Contraband. This can be set up within the first three rounds, even faster if you find Emergency Cache after setup.

Ideally we now have a flamethrower with around 14 ammo, so this should allow us to grill even the small enemies if we want to. And after we found Zoey's Cross we can also take care of those 1HP enemies without wasting fuel.

Setup/Mulligan strategy:

This is quite important to get it running the right way. Before we draw our opening hand, we put Contraband, Extra Ammunition and Prepared for the Worst under Stick to the Plan. You could also put Custom Ammunition instead of Extra Ammunition if you think +1damage against monsters would be a better option than 1*2 more ammo. Or put an emergency cache instead of those, if you think you will find one out of these 3 for sure. I would play it safe and go with Extra Ammunition.

After drawing opening hand, our only interest ist to get a copy of Flamethrower. If we already have it in hand, very good. If not, we will mulligan away every other card except the second copy of Prepared for the Worst if we by chance have it in the opening hand. If we did again not draw into a Flamethrower we are sad, but still not at the end, because thanks to Stick to the Plan we have at least one Prepared for the Worst at ready to play in round 1. With this setup strategy I managed to get a flamethrower by round 1 in 47 out of 50 tests. If you have any idea to further improve this, please share.

After we have found our Flamethrower we need to find the money to play it, stock it up with Extra Ammunition and then double it using Contraband, but I guess this needs no further explainations.

Other card choices:

  • 1x Machete as a backup if we fail to find Flamethrower with Prepared for the Worst

  • 2x Well Prepared is obviously very good together with the Flamethrower - we can attack with 11 once a round and we could even have two of those in play.

  • 1x Reliable is of course also very good if you have one central asset and try to keep it in use as long as possible.

  • 2x Taunt To draw more targets for our BBQ party

  • 1x Shortcut can be a funny thing with the Flamethrower - initiate combat at your current location then move to another engaging any enemies there and dump the flamedamage to them.

  • 2x Ward of Protection are always a good choice, especially if we are afraid of Crypt Chill or some similar treachery that attacks assets.

  • 1x Peter Sylvestre is my ally of choice here because I dont think we need any further boosts to our and he is quite cheap for his effect and always very good. Depending on your group composition you could swap him to Venturer maybe. If you remove Peter Sylvestre you might also change Trusted.

  • 2x "Let me handle this!" and 1x On the Hunt because we really want to get those enemies and not let them be drawn by our fellow investigators.
