Notes

Used in The Forgotten Age partnered with Leo Anderson. I used to struggle on TFA. With that build, I steamrolled the campaign. I'm considering making a new playthrough on hard.

Using taboos delays Elusive & Streetwise & nerfs Dr. Milan Christopher. I won't say it makes me happy, but it's OK, the deck can endure it.

Pickpocketing isn't great here in a 2 players setup with 4 cards avoiding evade checks. I'm considering Trench Coat, Switchblade or Manual Dexterity instead. It's better in a 4 players game paired with a main seeker when Finn is supposed to evade for multiple players per turn.

I consider cards like "Cunning" to be winmore: when I start stockpilling money, it generally means that everything is going well and I don't even have to spend much money on Streetwise. Finn isn't like Preston Fairmont or Jenny Barnes easily stockpilling hundreds of credits. Many cards are fairly expensive to play. I want all my cards to be active when the scenario goes wrong. I'm not packing empty sleeves. All those empty sleeves were losing me the early scenarios. The early struggle would then cost me a lot during the campaign.

I used to play Fingerprint Kit instead of Magnifying Glass. The thing is:

  • It costs 4 resources so you often have to wait to play it OR spend actions for resources.
  • It costs an action to play.
  • It only has 3 supplies. It's slow, it's expensive and if I fail a test if often doesn't even save me some actions. Having Dr. Milan Christopher + Lola Santiago + Magnifying Glass also allows me to have 7 intellect for a whole scenario, thus allowing me to win the test on a 4 shroud location against a -3 chaos token. That is exactly what a main seeker should seek to reach.

It's the most solid version of Finn I've found for now. I want my deck to always do the exact same things efficiently. No fun slots, no flavor slots, no winmore slots.

How to play the deck

Always keep "" and "" to save Finn from Willpower tests he couldn't possibly beat.

Don't make hard evade tests if you can have easy ones with Elusive, Think on Your Feet and Slip Away.

Mulligan for Lucky Cigarette Case (which will draw you into your other cards) and Dr. Milan Christopher (which will boost your stats and give you the funds for pretty much everything else). Magnifying Glass, Lockpicks & "" is OK, but don't be too greedy and threaten your ability to find the rest. If you could choose only one card to have in your starting hand, it would be Lucky Cigarette Case to find the rest.

What to remove:

Campaign Record

  • The Untamed Wilds: 7xp, C1 Flex slot: Fine Clothes.

  • The Doom of Eztli: 5xp, C1 Flex slot: I'm outta here.

  • Threads of Fate: 8xpc C1 Back to standard slot: Trench Coat. Alternative: just remove the previous flex slot. One could even argue that we could take I'm outta here from the beginning, not need Fine Clothes at the first Scenario and remove I'm outta here at that point. I do like the added stats and tanking though.

  • The Boundary Beyond: 3xp, C1

  • Heart of the Elders part 1: 4xp, C1

  • Heart of the Elders part 2: 7xp, C1

  • The city of Archives: 11 xp, C1

  • The Depths of Yoth: 3xp, C2

  • Shattered Aeons: 7xp, C1 Unavoidable 2 physical and 2 mental traumas.

Total: 55xp, earth saved.
