My starter deck for the Innsmouth Conspiracy Campaign Playalong. I picked Mateo because he has access to fairly large portion of the cards included, I rarely play Mystics, and I have never played Mateo!

Although I'm mostly a "discovery" deckbuilder this time I'm planning ahead! I like to write out what I expect each card to do as a reason for its inclusion. Although I have access to the Jacqueline Fine deck I've made it a point to focus on Innsmouths Cycle of cards so I don't play a mostly generic mystic deck.

Bless and Curse Generation: I expect...

Keep Faith- to quickly and fairly cheaply put Bless tokens in the bag.

Priest of Two Faiths- burst generate bless tokens, trickle in curses, and soak up damage and horror.

Tempt Fate - a Cantrip and Blurse generation.

Promise of Power- to Almost Guaranteed to Pass an important test and throw in some curses to boot.

Blurse Payoffs: I expect...

Shroud of Shadows- To Evade enemies and provide mobility on Innsmouths large maps.

The Eye of Chaos - Gather Clues with Willpower and to sneak some from high shroud locations when I reveal curses.

Beloved - Auto-pass tests when I reveal a bless, useful icons anyways.

Paradoxical Covenant - To provide a big payoff for bless/curses with auto-passes.

Rite of Sanctification - to Pay for expensive assets and events for Mateo and Calvin.

Other Notable Cards: I expect

Astral Travel - to Quickly traverse Innsmouths large maps.

Favor of the Moon - To help mitigate curses and guarantee them when needed.

Sword Cane- to Cheaply and easily manage most enemies.

Drawn to the Flame: Collect clues at high shroud locations.

Our First 5 Exp:

Mateo gets to start with 5xp, and I've included some cards that might raise an eyebrow or two.

Priest of Two FaithsI really believe, at least in this card pool, that this is the best Ally we have access to. Not only is it incredibly cheap for a 2/2 soak it adds blesses and curses at the same time! It does everything we want a card to be doing for us: Soak Damage, add Blesses, add Curses, and do it affordably!

Paradoxical Covenant- to be honest, I picked this one because I've never felt compelled to use it at any point in time and I think it's neato. We have the means to make use of it, of course, but no doubt Ancient Covenant would be stronger.

Favor of the Moon- I picked this over Favor of the Sun because I want to reveal curse tokens when we use Eye of Chaos or Shoud of Shadows. Plus, this easily removes curses from the bag and generates a bit of change while we're at it.

Whats next?

I like to break down upgrades in 10xp increments. This is all subject to change as I playthrough the campaign but here's the plan!

First 10XP - The real Payoffs. We generate a pretty good number of Bless and Curse tokens already, so it's time we get some more reliable benefits.

Blessing of Isis-This was made for Mateo. Our is awesome, so lets get more of it!

Eye of the Djinn- This thing is marvelous. Test at 5? Get more actions and ready it when we reveal or ? Sure. Have at it!

Next 10 xp! - Consistency. Not much to say besides... Favor of the Moon and upgraded versions of Shroud of Shadowsand The Eye of Chaos.

Afer these though It's hard to be sure. I'll be adjusting as I identify weaknesses in the deck, and some cards that seem like they should be in are simply going to be in the Calvin deck running parallel to this (Ancient Cov, Spirit of Humanity, Signum Crucius, Radiant Smite, etc.).

I know it's hardly perfect but I'm pretty pleased with the plan here. I feel like we're sitting on solid ground and, even if it takes a couple scenarios, Mateo should be able to handle just about anything.

I'll be posting updates once I'm all caught up. Look out for the Calvin deck! Which, admittedly, I am not nearly as sure of as this one.
