Want to feel overpowered? Say no more.

Mulligan

You are looking for Shrivelling, Wither and Hawk-Eye Folding Camera or Holy Rosary. With these cards, you will be set. That means you should also, almost always, keep Arcane Initiate in your starting hand in order to look for the spells.

Start

If you can't setup adequately your fight cards in the first round, you must move and reveal a couple locations and draw cards. The movement will give you options if the first encounter card is an enemy (the definitive test of a solo deck).

If you really can't find your fight cards, that means you are overpowered when it comes to getting clues, so when the first enemy comes and you move to your Dream-Gate, it's not really an emergency as you can get clues from anywhere consistently.

Try to play Arcane Initiate in the first doom threshold where the downside won't matter. Mr. "Rook"(4) was insane for this deck but he is now chained at +4 so what can we say? We say we don't need him.

Fight

If you can't find your Wither. Shrivelling or Spectral Razor, dream and get clues. Try to be efficient with damage.

Clues

You are a clue machine. Use your Gate Box with Vantage Point and Enraptured, play with your Seeking Answers, your Working a Hunch, Read the Signs, Drawn to the Flame. You are insane.

These cards don't block each other, meaning you can net 4 clues from anywhere in the map with the single allowed event played "as if", in a single round.

Upgrade

First 7 XP: Shrivelling(3) and Wither(4). Second 7 XP: Shrivelling(3) and Wither(4)

Now you are unstoppable.

Get Seeking Answers, Recharge to replace Enraptured, Seal of the Elder Sign to replace Hawk-Eye Folding Camera. Do not upgrade Shortcut.

Rule ambiguity

With the latest FAQ, we are more confident that Hawk-Eye Folding Camera and Crack the Case work remotely, so we got that going for us. Drawn to the Flame will spawn an enemy in the "as if" location, at least to my understanding. I like to keep things a bit difficult where I can.

Shortcut is a card made for Luke. The designers have described the scenario of using this card "as if" in any connected location in order to move further to an unrevealed location and also bypass every enemy in the first location. Now that's a true shortcut.

Good luck, you are not going to need it though. You are always winning in your dreams.

What cycles have you used this deck to beat?

Also, what do you do if the Dream Gate gets flipped? Play without it?

@Hippoboy I test my decks extensively in the Night of the Zealot. Midnight Masks is a great crash test for solo decks and the Devourer Below is also interesting.

Regarding the Dream Gate, if you draw Detached from Reality you will lose a round(hopefully you disengage from an enemy maybe and you have assets to play/things to do in your loneliness). You don't need to flip it back. You get the 2 horror and move on.

Maybe you are missing the wording on Gate Box. Once you use it, you must search for Wondrous Journey i.e. flip it to Wondrous Journey.
