Leave allies to Charlie Kane. You'll gather your own army, an army of enemies.

Disclaimer: this deck's core gimmick is based on 2 interactions that are not very clear (i'm not very sure i got everything correct). I'll copypaste relevant rules at the end of the deck's description.

Core idea

This deck main goal is abuse Power Word/greater control with the resources provided by Prophetic and discount from Robes of Endless Night to attach/detach Power Word multiple times from enemies. This (should) also resets the limit on that copy of Power Word allowing you to use a command twice (or even more) in the same round.

Power Word lets you use your puppets to deal damage (even to elites, provided the minion is strong enough) and discover clues from safe distance (with bonded). Just remember that hunters will still hunt unless you command them to cower.

Power Word/thrice spoken allows you to command your whole army in a single action.

Remember that you can activate Power Word's ability to return it to your hand from any location, as you control the card.

Card choices

Amina Zidane: Power Word is an event, so Luke Robinson could use this build too. With bonded he can also command enemies from the Dream-Gate! Why Amina Zidane then? Mainly because the deck requires a lot of resources to work at its maximum potential (2x Prophetic, Robes of Endless Night) and Amina Zidane's ability lets us skip economy entirely as she can use it to play every asset in this list for 0. I suggest you use it every time you can (on 2+ costed assets especially), even spreading setup on multiple turns, if needed.

2x Scroll of Secrets: feeds Close the Circle and helps searching for keycards (mainly Prophetic, as it cannot be found with Arcane Initiate).

2x Close the Circle: the deck is very action intensive with all the commands, so having an additional basic action (it cannot be used to parley!) can help us move or play an asset. This card benefits from Sin-Eater that can clear doom while getting it an additional charge, Prophetic, and Scroll of Secrets.

2x St. Hubert's Key: cost is not relevant for Amina Zidane and its +1 +1 can help her with Close the Circle actions or occasional investigates, or against the mythos deck.

2x Robes of Endless Night: discounts spells and soaks damage, as Amina Zidane has only 5 health.

2x Arcane Initiate: tutors spells and Amina Zidane does not care about the doom.

2x Enchanted Blade: you don't want to enthrall Swarm of Rats. They are unworthy. Kill'em with the blade (if you cannot command a minion to do it for you).

2x Prophetic: resource battery for Power Word. Costs 1 doom.

2x Deny Existence: you don't want damage on Amina Zidane. You don't want to discard your cards neither.

2x Drawn to the Flame: it's free clues - best case scenario it fishes out a minion for your army. Worst case is a treachery that you can survive.

1x Moonlight Ritual: emergency button to clear Blood Pact or Sin-Eater when you don't have time to. Also discards Spires of Carcosa, resets Brotherhood Cultists and Arkham Officers.

2x Storm of Spirits: have you had enough of your minions? Gather them and get rid of everything. Just remember to detach Power Word first.

2x String of Curses: another emergency button for cultists, or big non-elite creatures you don't have time for. Can also interact with Amina Zidane's occasionally.

2x Ward of Protection: Amina Zidane has 5/9 soak, so this can provide protection from mithoi when needed. She also likes to Drawn to the Flame so this inclusion is a no-brainer.

Word of Woe/Word of Weal: I had to include them. I guess you can sometimes find the use for both, but this isn't the deck that is focusing on those cards. Not tutorable too.

2x Promise of Power: just a good skill that allows Amina Zidane to test at 7 minimum.

Blood Pact: strong permanent that can help with Enchanted Blade, Close the Circle, and tests from the mythos deck. Amina Zidane wants Sin-Eater and Moonlight Ritual anyway, and 3 base is decent value.

Sin-Eater: another core card, used to move doom from assets Amina Zidane played with her ability. Just time it correctly and you won't have to use the on it more than once or twice per agenda, while playing every asset for free.

Relevant rules:

  • about limits (see Limits and Maximums):

"Limit X per " is a limit that appears on cards that remain in play through the resolution of an ability's effect. Each instance of an ability with such a limit may be initiated X times during the designated period. If a card leaves play and re-enters play during the same period, the card is considered to be bringing a new instance of the ability to the game.

  • about triggering abilities from a different location (see Triggered Abilities):

An investigator is permitted to use triggered abilities (,, and abilities) from the following sources:

A card in play and under his or her control. This includes his or her investigator card.

A scenario card that is in play and at the same location as the investigator. This includes the location itself, encounter cards placed at that location, and all encounter cards in the threat area of any investigator at that location.

The current act or current agenda card.

Any card that explicitly allows the investigator to activate its ability.

  • about control (see the infamous "Ownership and Control"):

Cards by default enter play under their owner's control. Some abilities may cause cards to change control during a game.

Very cool deck! Was looking for a way to play Amina and this might be the way to go. I'm going to test this one out soon, paired with another flex investigator. Also, I think you're right about the rules interactions. FFG doesn't clearly define otherwise, so I'd say you're right to assume the rules in this way.

FFG confirms this works as intended

"Hello William,

Thank you for your interest in Arkham Horror: The Card Game.

To answer your question(s):

Generally speaking, a “limit” only applies to a single copy of the card in question, for X times during the designated period. If it exits and re-enters play during the same period, it can create a new instance of its ability. So, Power Word’s “limit once per round per command” only limits its usage for that single copy of Power Word for that round. If Power Word were bounced with Greater Control and re-entered play, its limit is reset. Greater Control can target a Power Word not at your location.
