Playing this in a 3 player campaign. I think there's a good chance I'll have to do a lot of my own fighting so rocking Backstab.

I think Narrow Escape is a crucial upgrade over the original because of it's interaction with Uncage the Soul. Being able to sneak a Shrivelling into play or cast Storm of Spirits on 0 resources seems really strong. And even when you're not using Narrow Escape for that purpose, it just seems like a solid card. That said, this is pure theory.

The following is lifted from the deck that this list is heavily inspired from as reference for myself as I take this through a Carcosa campaign.

Recommended upgrades are:

...with Adaptable + Charisma leading to adding Leo De Luca

Other upgrades I'm considering are:

I think the upgraded Ward of Protection in particular could be useful since I plan on hanging out by myself thanks to Lone Wolf.

Cards that will get removed eventually:

In my own Sefina deck i had the phone from the start and it worked pretty. I also added David Renfield and Leo De Luca, otherwise you don't have enough allies for the phone.

Narrow Escape is an interesting idea. Do often find yourself in a situations where you need it? I know it can happen (Shrivelling being emtpy so you need to Recharge or Book of Shadows it), but taking 1 or 2 OAs usually isn't a problem, when you have 6 allies in the deck.

About upgrades. If playing wiht 2+ players, i'd make Ward of Protection II highest priority, as it can stop other players from being defeated and counters Ancient Evils. But that depends on the scenario. I don't recommend to upgrade this to Ward of Protection 5, as it doesn't proctect other players.

Other helpful upgrades:

@DjangoI haven't had a chance to play this list yet so jury is still out on whether I'm over-selling Narrow Escape for myself or not. I don't think I am though. Even just the idea of moving and using it then playing Storm of Spirits at a location with more enemies sounds awesome.

I have a Calling in Favors build as well, but I'll end up choosing this one I suspect since my teammate will be running the favors and I don't want to bother proxying. (and eh, if I change my mind, Adaptable will let me easily get some Calling in Favors in this list)

A note, we can't take the Ward of Protection 5 due to deck restrictions. I think you're correct though that Ward of Protection 2 is a desirable upgrade.

Currently running through 2 player Carcosa with a similar build. I've started with St. Hubert's Key instead of Holy Rosary, mainly because of icon. After getting some experience I've taken "Watch this!" and Dario El-Amin. The first one has great icons and allows you to get some extra cash to activate Dario El-Amin or make use of Streetwise. But the MVP so far was Charon's Obol - taken at the very start it will generate a lot of useful upgrades later (starting from the 3rd scenario), and makes the game IMHO more interesting, kinda like Ultimatum of Finality with benefits, but only for one player. However the presence of this card requires to play safe and include at least one copy of "I'm outta here!", and/or Cheat Death.

@veneretio: For me, Narrow Escape is very situational and as such not very useful. As i said in last post, eating 1 or 2 OAs during a scenario happens and is no problem with soaks or healing (partys seeker should have Strange Solution).

Sory about Ward of Protection 5, forgot sefina cant take it, when writing the comment (i wouldnt have taken it anyway).

@Chew: The synergy between St. Hubert's Key and Dario El-Amin is very nice. More Xp from Charon's Obol is also welcome, the rogue deck has some very strong upgrades. Too bad you cant remove it later, when you don't need the XP anymore (permanent cards can't be replaced, as they don't matter for total deck size).

Time Warp and Cheat Death are also very strong cards, but i'm not sure if i'll ever play Cheat Death, It's a very situational cards (unless you die very often).

Too bad sefina cant take Scrying 3, i've played it in a Norman Withers, it's very useful to control the encounter deck (like giving Ancient Evils to people with counter spells). It does generate lots of horror, but Fearless 2 and Key of Ys help witih that.

@DjangoI've since updated the list removing both the Guts and putting in x2 David Renfield. It solves the potential health problems while also being an easy reset for Arcane Initiate.

Narrow Escape is proving to be a crucial starting card in the deck. Without it, you really have no way to effectively use Backstab prior to picking up Streetwise. It could be argued that that is why Backstab should be a different card, but as already listed, Narrow Escape does other things as well. Overall, I'm really liked it.

I don't see the link between Backstab and Narrow Escape.

You mean you provoke an OA, use Narrow Escape to avoid damage and then kill with Backstab with the +2 bonus provided by Narrow Escape? It's a viable strategy, but i think Manual Dexterity or any other dex boosting card (Hard Knocks) would do the same, while not being as limited in usage as Narrow Escape.

@DjangoNarrow Escape has 2 agility icons like Manual Dexterity. The extra functionality it adds is worth more in the deck in my experience than drawing a card. It's also an Event.
