Slightly meme deck, some weakness will outright kill the deck, so might need to be slightly picky for the weakness.
To begin with, Why roland? It is because of Directive, making insight fast works well with Extensive Research!! and it is fun to try and get weird ideas works! (Yes, Farsight is a card, and it is straight up better than this, but again, I just want to make janky things to work)
This deck evolve around the idea of drawing most of your cards and keeping them in hand with Dream-Enhancing Serum and Laboratory Assistant, then once your deck+discard pile is thin, utilitise your Directive (Red Tape) to play Extensive Research for fast and free. Hence fast testless 2 clues. (Targetted for 2 players becaues you mostly get clues in 2s)
This deck is low in skills, this is because of the Directive (Seek the truth), I only included Curiosity to handle a few specific situation like Frozen in Fear. Cards like Unexpected Courage, Logical Reasoning is some replacement of this slot.
Gameplay
Early game, you might not move and just draw cards to find Dream-Enhancing Serum, just draw, dont care if you overdraw, you need a few core cards for the deck to work (Dream-Enhancing Serum and 2x Laboratory Assistant)
After you got Rod of Animalism, you might start considering playing your dogs out (not adviced to play all unless you have draw all since it can be handy for Dream-Enhancing Serum. You should try to protect Laboratory Assistant to maintain handsize, so putting some dogs out for soak is great.
Do not clear Cover Up until the last turn, since you are expected to cycle your deck more than once, you only want to deal with it during the end.
Late game, your draw pile should be fairly small (10+ assets in play, holding like 12+ cards in hand, basically play Glimpse the Unthinkable should trigger Dream-Enhancing Serum every time as well. Given you have Extensive Research, you might ended up cycling your deck once a turn (yes, you will be taking a lot of horror). if you have a bad weakness, you will probably outright die. Drawing and playing Extensive research will allow fast progression. Sled Dogs also allow you to move a few locations with 1 move action! Bypassing The Leave No Doubt directive
While you will probably fight using Sled Dog or Roland's .38 Special at 7 , Blood-Rite from Occult Lexicon also allow you to do test-less damage.
Before the scenario end, make sure you use Working a Hunch to clear your Cover Up.
Cards Explains
- Occult Lexicon & Blood-Rite: 3x Blood-Rite can be Dream-enhancing serum enabler, test-less damage or resources generation
- Dream-Enhancing Serum: Big hand enabler
- Rod of Animalism: Sled-Dog enabler
- Backpack: Draw Rod and Serum early
- Laboratory Assistant: Big hand enabler
- Sled Dog: Soak, Serum enabler, Fighting tool, Movement tool. Good doggie do everything that you are not good at
- Segment of Onyx: Mostly Serum Enabler, but late game can be translated to fast moves
- Crack the Case: Resources generation
- Deep Knowledge: Early Card draw, also since this deck is testless, the is fairly tame
- Extensive Research: Core cards of the deck - fast 2 clues for 0 resources.
- Glimpse the Unthinkable: Draw + Serum enabler
- Shortcut: Just ok fast move
- Working a Hunch: More fast clue getting, allow to advance early acts faster if need be, more or less a backup card. Aim to use it for getting last clue for Cover Up.
- Curiosity: Solid commit for and . If you drew encounter cards that need it, you can fast - Extensive Research into committing it for the test. Lot of other potential replacement.
Honorable mention
- Cryptic Writings is good, but from my test, my deck resources seems to be ok with crack the case, it feels like a more reliable way to get resources as a fast actions compare to it. After you get more xp, upgraded it, it will probaby be better than crack the case.
- Existential Riddle, it make sense in this deck, 0 difficulties test for enemy management, didnt include it in the end just because dont think it is strong enough for this deck
