This Sister Mary deck is being played alongside a support-focused parallel Daisy Walker, a damage-for-clues Roland Banks, and a clue-focused Dexter Drake in The Circle Undone on Hard, hoping to make an early exit by joining up with the Silver Twilight Lodge.

The deck is focused on combat, mostly using the combo of .35 Winchester post-taboo to draw blessings and do 3 damage. Olive McBride is key here, drawing 3 tokens and resolving 2, hoping that one of those 2 is a blessing. As it stands, Sister Mary tests at a 5 using the Winchester, so she rides the line of effectiveness with this method a bit. Adding Recall the Future and targeting blessing and naming Blessing is the key here, as it gives a crucial additional boost when resolving a blessing among multiple tokens.

Additional blessings are added with cards like Guardian Angel, Book of Psalms, Hand of Fate and Tempt Fate, and potentially Blessed Blade which is a backup weapon that hopefully is not in use. Adding Righteous Hunt and Sacred Covenant help keep more blessings in the bag, and Favor of the Sun (unlisted as of this writing) helps keep the blessings reliable.

Additional combat comes from Azure Flame, and spell events like Spectral Razor and Storm of Spirits. Upgrading into other combat spells such as Blood Eclipse and Radiant Smite especially help with this too.

Deny Existence is mandatory for countering Crisis of Faith.

Upgrade Path

This deck peaks at 16XP, perfect for standalone or a shortened campaign like we intend to do here. Everything prior to the Nephthys upgrade sums to 16, and this deck is strong as just that. Adding Nephthys requires Charisma given how key Olive McBride is to this deck, so it's a big sink of XP for a fantastic tech, but only if the XP flows freely. This upgrade path is ordered in priority, more or less.

Sacred Covenant (2XP)

Book of Psalms Recall the Future (2XP)

Spectral Razor Radiant Smite (1XP)

Stand Together Favor of the Sun (1XP)

Prepared for the Worst Righteous Hunt (1XP)

Holy Rosary Holy Rosary (2) (2XP)

Blessed Blade Nephthys (4XP) and Charisma (3XP)

Other Options

Some other cards I really wanted to find room for in this deck were Enchanted Armor, Blood Eclipse, Ace of Swords, Reliable, Well-Maintained, Extra Ammunition and Custom Ammunition.

I could justify doing Enchanted Armor instead of Nephthys if the XP is not going to be available after the initial 18 is spent, and I'd be fine taking Blood Eclipse replacing Storm of Spirits, but our Roland has no AoE damage so I liked the utility more. Reliable and Well-Maintained for the .35 Winchester are both very nice, and Extra Ammunition would be great as well. Custom Ammunition I wasn't considering for this campaign, because we mostly shoot witches and cultists, neither of whom are monster enemies. And between Roland Banks, the Azure Flames and the combat spells, I'm okay not taking Extra Ammunition - the .35 Winchester has 5 ammo as is, which is a lot.

Are you sure that Deny Existence can be used to cancel the horror of Crisis of Faith, as the latter is neither an encounter card nor an enemy?

Never mind, I found the answer myself. Some weaknesses (like Crisis of Faith) are also treachery cards and these are considered encounter cards, so yes it works.

Another question: How does Sacred Covenant in conjunction with Recall the Future and the Bless tokens work? Can I name Bless with Recall the Future, then reveal a Bless token, then after drawing another token (which makes the Bless boost unnecessary) use Sacred Covenant to put the bless back into the chaos bag and still get the +2 boost from Recall the Future, as I have named the bless token correctly (before putting it back into the chaos bag)?

@trumpetfish my understanding of this interaction is that Sacred Covenant returns the token to the bag and ignores it's modifier, but it doesn't cancel or ignore the token itself so it would still count for effects like Recall the Future or the taboo version of .35 Winchester.

Thanks @jaguar for answering. I will play it this way then until there is no other ruling or something official in the faq. I guess that in combination with Olive McBride you will only get the +2 from Recall the Future if you choose a token as one of the two that you resolve as the third token gets ignored and goes straight back into the bag? How do you play this?
