DECK FOCUS
The Skeleton Key
The Skeleton Key sets the shroud to 1, and Lantern reduces the shroud to 0. This allows you to pull any token from the chaos bag, except , and succeed!
Services & Favors
An Intel Report is the equivalent to 4 actions. Two to move & two to collect clues, not to mention you don't need to make skill checks (something Preston is not good at) nor the actions it takes to return to your current location. It's powerful action economy in exchange for resources. This is what preston is perfect for.
Like Intel Report, Small Favor is very powerful especially for enemies that spawn far away like Acolyte . Decoy has it's moments, but not nearly as strong as the others. I often swap it in & out with the Adaptable list below.
Double, Double
With Double, Double, you can pay 12 resources to perform Intel Report or Small Favor twice for 1 action. That's the equivalent to 8+ actions. Hot Streak, Emergency Cache, Ace in the Hole, Sneak Attack, and many others are abusable.
With Family Inheritance, Hot Streak, & Emergency Cache you can easy get these resources to do just that.
MANAGING MONEY
Leo De Luca
Family Inheritance is a blessing & a curse. You will spend a lot of actions just pulling the resources off of it at the end of your turn. Leo De Luca helps this by giving you one additional action, allowing you to still perform 3 actions.
Hot Streak & Emergency Cache
Since Hot Streak and Emergency Cache both put resources on Family Inheritance, be sure to have an action remaining to collect.
Well Connected
Well connected is a power house. Towards the end of a game it can easily supply a +5-8 to a skill check. With family inheritance and upkeep you increase it by +1 each round.
Fire Axe
Fire Axe rewards you with additional damage when your resources are low. That goes against most of what this deck is trying to accomplish. However it's really good at dealing 1 damage to foes! the +6 combat should not be overlooked. After you do some power plays, like Double, Double an Intel Report, you will change your focus to dealing with enemies when low on resources. Once your personal resource pool is depleted, use the resources on Family Inheritance to increase both the attack and deal the additional damage.
Big Plays
I find the best way to play is to stock-up on resources, wait until Double, Double then drop an Intel Report or Small Favor each turn. After your resources are depleted you'll refocus with Fire Axe and The Skeleton Key and Lantern as you rebuild your wealth.
Mulligan and Setup
After drawing your first 5 cards, you will want to make a choice: Focus on a high resource game or a low resource game. You can eventually build both over the course of the scenario, but it's hard focus on both at the very begining of the game.
I generally find myself only focusing on high resources if I get a Well Connected or Double, Double, otherwise low resource is easier to setup since Backpack helps find missing pieces.

More Defense
More Combat
N/A - Fire Axe, Lantern, and Small Favor are staples (Do not remove). You'll likely upgrade into Sneak Attack and there are no other ways to deal damage without a test.
More Clues
More Mobility
More Resources
More Skill Tests
The key and lantern combo doesn’t work. The key sets the value to one, so whatever you use to lower the shroud the key set it back to one. It might work with drawing thin tough, increase the diffuculty and then its get set back to one.
