Deck Rundown:
Kymani Jones has some really unique mechanics, and has solid for a . As a solo investigator however, they have to dig themselves out of their lack of both and . The core idea of this deck is to leverage Kymani's free experience to immediately take advantage of the consistency that Underworld Market brings to the table. All items that have to do with fighting (.25 Automatic and Mauser C96) or cluing (Lockpicks and Thieves' Kit) are put into the market, along with Pickpocketing - a key economy card. The actual deck consists of further economy, stat boosters, and functionality enablers such as leveraging Tool Belt and Hidden Pocket to allow for use of the numerous hand items as needed. Dissection Tools and Hawk-Eye Folding Camera can conditionally provide stats and even some extra sanity. Either of these can be swapped for a second copy of the other depending on preference and campaign, and will be upgraded into Moxie (3) to help with the encounters. Pocket Multi Tool and (later) Ice Pick (3) allow test buffing. While all the Market items can be Hidden Pocket'ed, you still only have 2 hands, so use Tool Belt to switch out your other items as needed for the foreseeable tests in the coming turn. Eventually, Crafty and/or Moxie (3) will also be available to pump up key skill tests.
Fighting: The main problem with Kymani as a solo investigator is their weak . One of the first upgrades that should be made is Sharpshooter so that the Market guns become consistent. One of Kymani's initial experience is left over to enable this faster. Backstab is included in the deck for ease of handling their signature weakness, and to cover tough enemies prior to Sharpshooter. Sleight of Hand can allow Market guns to be cheaply played in a pinch. Lonnie Ritter can technically be seen as helping you fight, but is primarily included as a horror soak and will be eventually upgraded into better fighters (Delilah O'Rourke and/or Trigger Man). One good thing about Kymani is that you only have to weaken enemies enough to use their . If more firepower is needed later the Mauser C96 can be upgraded into the Chicago Typewriter and/or the Beretta M1918, though this is an end-campaign choice as there are many other upgrades that should be concentrated on first.
Cluing: Thieves' Kit and Lockpicks consistently bought from the market provide immediate ease of cluing for Kymani. Eventually, Gregory Gry can be upgraded into Lola Santiago, who will help as well. While you should be using Thieves' Kit for most investigations for economy purposes, Lockpicks should be immediately upgraded to Lockpicks (1) after Sharpshooter and Pickpocketing (2) are finished, as it gives you a tool for high-shroud locations.
Economy: As must be apparent by this point, there are lots of items to play. The most consistently drawn economy cards you will have access to is Pickpocketing and Thieves' Kit (and technically the Mauser C96, but it's much more inconsistent). Pickpocketing should be upgraded to Pickpocketing (2) after Sharpshooter as some economy cards in the deck will be upgraded out. The deck holds Gregory Gry (initially - will be upgraded), Lone Wolf, Investments, Emergency Cache (initially - will be upgraded), and "Watch this!" (initially - will be upgraded). Being able to compress the actions required to play all these items is quite helpful, and so either upgrading Emergency Cache into Fence or Gregory Gry into Joey "The Rat" Vigil (3) is helpful as Quick Thinking will eventually be swapped for Ice Pick (3).
Charon's Obol is an option for this deck as there are many upgrades that are desirable, both to shore up initial issues and to eventually turn up raw stats and free test pumping. Kymani's low sanity and the lack of cheap horror soak in the deck make it a risky move, however. Take it whenever you feel comfortable doing so, or see the need to ramp over the campaign difficulty curve.

Dec 21, 2023Nvm, it's the market. And the sidedeck are the upgrades. Got it. Going to give ir a try |
Apr 14, 2024I tried the deck but felt like I was spending too many actions playing assets just to be able to function, sleight of hand helped a little, but I just felt like I was action poor all the time with so little legroom in true solo. |
