Quick-learned Wendy
Quick Learner decrease difficulty during/after third action. By those 2 features, this deck go toward to...
- Make test with 0 difficulty (during/after third action) for pseudo auto-success
- Collect as many actions as possible (for Quick Learner)
[NOTE] You always success the test with 0 difficulty except , because the modified skill value cannot be smaller than 0.
Strategies
- Mulligan: Leo De Luca > Suggestion >> Pickpocketing, Haste, money sources
Investigation strategy: making 0 difficulty test
Basically, your investigation action need to be performed during/after third action.
- You can reduce difficulty following cards
- Quick Learner (2 copies): -2
- Old Keyring/Flashlight: -2
- Winging It: -1
- "Look what I found!": -2 actually. If you upgrade "Look what I found!"(2), ok for 3.
- By Shroud value (with Quick Learner)...
- "Look what I found!": Make the test difficulty 2, and ready to play it. You can play it with -2 or less token(including ) with no boost.
- The Skeleton Key: When investigating the location attacted The Skeleton Key, the difficulty reduces to 0 with Quick Learner.
Planing and collecting actions as many as possible
You may get additional actions by ...
- Leo De Luca
- Haste
- Quick Thinking with Suggestion evade test
- If you have teammate, you may play "You owe me one!" for Borrowed Time :)
1st/2nd action
Due to Quick Learner, your 1st action has disadventage (+2 difficulty for all test). Therefore, it's good that you avoid initiating any test to fight/evade/investigate.
- Play(Asset or non-test Event) / Move action: Both actions is important but don't initiate any test. It's good plan that you wait move/play for 1st/2nd action.
- Evade with Suggestion: With Wendy's high /, you are likely to success Suggestion evade test (8 for default, 10 for one Moonstone, 12 for two Moonstones).
- Fight/Evade/Investigate with Drawing Thin: You may spend action for Drawing Thin if you have.
- Draw/Resource action: this is not bad action, i think.
- Preparing Haste bonus: see below
Haste tip
[NOTE] Haste gives another action so that you can count earned action for Quick Learner.
- Basic Combo: 3rd-4th(Luca)-Haste. Investigate is default, but you may fight with 2 or less fight (eg. Tommy Malloy).
- Borrowed Time: 2nd-3rd-Haste. You can convert 2nd action(no bonus) into 4rd action(Quick Learner bonus). When you cannot have any idea about basic combo, this might be good solution.
- Preparation: 1st-2nd-Haste with play/move/resource/draw.
- Panic Button:1st-2nd-Haste with evade. You may throw away 2 actions, but you can get -2 difficulty bonus at Haste action.
- Cheat: if you control real Borrowed Time, you simply try activation action at 1st-2nd-Haste.
When I try this deck, it's hard to trigger Haste by activate/play action. I suggest that you try to investigate 3rd-4th action.
Wendy's Amulet
I don't like to use Wendy's Amulet in this deck. Please note that you can recycle Winging It without Amulet. If you use Amulet, it's hard to find Winging If from deck, so that your investigation ability might be worse.
Deckbuild guide
Key cards
- Quick Learner, Leo De Luca: the identity of this deck
- Old Keyring/Winging It/"Look what I found!": great combo for investigation.
- Flashlight is good but optional, you may drop this if you think you have too many investigation source.
- Winging It is important. You can get Wendy's bonus, and +1 clue. Also, it can be used repeatedly.
- Suggestion: Without this, you may have a trouble with engaged enemy due to Quick Learner penalty.
- Haste: you need to earn as many actions as possible. Haste is good source for that.
- Drawing Thin (non-taboo): Drawing Thin is great with Quick Learner. However, there are many cards with xp with taboo.
Considerable cards
- Improvised Weapon: similar as Winging It. You may attack with fight 3. Since Wendy may not use Improvised Weapon without Quick Learner, you may swip this card by Adaptable.
- Quick Thinking: Quick Thinking is another action source. However, I don't like this due to...
- Wendy doesn't like cycle her deck due to Abandoned and Alone. This means that you can only use one time.
- You need to commit during your turn for Quick Learner bonus. Thus, you need to succeed your test 2 or more. That looks contradict to deck concept (we don't consider modified skill value).
- Scavenging: you may recycle Flashlight/Keyring, but Resourceful & Flashlight/Keyring may be enough.
0-level guide
You cannot use Quick Learner at level 0. However, the 0 level deck seems to be a standard Wendy deck :) I recommand Perception, Emergency Cache, Fine Clothes/Manual Dexterity.
This deck applies taboo list. If you don't use Taboo list, I recommand Drawing Thin and Double or Nothing. Both have great synergied with Quick Learner.
Wendy can add Adaptable; thus, you don't worry about adding card (anti-)synergied with Quick Learner.
Upgrade Priority
- 2 Quick Learner (8xp): If you remains 1 xp, add Suggestion is good.
- Suggestion (1xp) + Haste (2xp)
- Another copies of Suggestion/Haste: Both are key card for Quick-Learner deck, so I recommand add both copies to draw those card earlier (if no searching tools from allies).
- If you have Drawing Thin, Rabbit's Foot (3) is great searching tool. You could add Rabbit's Foot rather than another copies of Suggestion/Haste.
Upgrade Recommandation
- Charon's Obol if you like this :)
- Pickpocketing(2) or Drawing Thin(3-taboo). I think either is necessary for money&drawing source.
- Improvised Weapon or Ornate Bow: Fighting Tools.
- Improvised Weapon: it only works with fight 3 or less. you may change by Adaptable.
- Ornate Bow: good, but you have no hand slot for Flashlight/Keyring.
- "Look what I found!", Lucky!, Leo De Luca: those cards are good for this deck, so upgrade is good idea.
- Charisma + Miss Doyle: you can bypass 1st action penalty via auto-success.
- Easy Mark, Alter Fate, Eucatastrophe, A Test of Will: good utility cards
- Cornered: if you have trouble in discarding Winging It, it will help.

Jun 17, 2021Also for cards that could make the trick in adding pseudo-testless actions on demand, Quick Thinking and Swift Reflexes seem nice. And yes, I'm aware of the deck size limitation ^^. |
Jun 17, 2021I need to learn how to read, you wrote about Quick Thinking. |

It means that if you want to use Wendy's Amulet, you could build different type of deck. I think Lantern is good solution. Backpack is also nice, since the target is 7-8 (with Lantern). Swift Reflexes is also, since it can be reuseable by Amulet. |
That's a very nice deck ! Especially if you, as I do, like taking 0-difficulty test (the -magnet).
A few questions:
What do you think of Lantern in this one, sure it doesn't reach as much as the previous 2, but unlimited uses seems quite ok to me ? Or maybe having to spend play actions isn't too bad with Haste, I guess ?
You say that you don't like playing Wendy's Amulet in this; so is Relic Hunter only there for Moonstone ?
Also, I like to play Backpack(0))/(2), but I can get that if you're not interested in Wendy's Amulet, it isn't as appealing despite its drawing-filtering ability.
